The counterfeiting

ISO 4730-2017 also includes the enantiomeric distribution of terpinen-4-ol in pure and natural tea tree oil. This is commonly known as the "Chiral report" test, which allows you to protect yourself against counterfeiting.

Allergens and the Cassegrain label

Allergens and the Cassegrain label: The European directive by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) on cosmetics, concerning potential allergens, requires the identification of 26 aromatic compounds and perfuming substances, which are present in some essential oils. Any such compounds must be included in the list of ingredients if they are present at more than 0.01% in ‘rinse off’ products and more than 0.001% in ‘leave on’ products.

Pure TTO contains trace of Methyl eugenol at levels of less than 0.1%. Cassegrain’ s pure Australian tea tree oil has consistently been shown to have a low level trace of Methyl eugenol., To date the highest level recorded in CaTTO being .0241% (241 ppm) and the lowest at 0.0113% (113 ppm) with an average under .0193% (193 ppm).

The Australian label, a guarantee of quality

Pure Australian tea tree oil contains more than 113 compounds. The ISO standard, besides the oil’s physical characteristics and Chiral ratio for purity, refers to the required range of 15 of the compounds.  However, all 113 compounds are required to be present to be genuine tea tree oil. To demonstrate that CATTO conforms to ISO4730-2017, we provides a gas chromatography analyses of each batch, undertaken by the independent analytical research laboratory accredited by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). The EU regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), that comes into force in May 2018, has adopted the ISO4730-2017 standard for TTO, with none of the other standards for TTO  relevant in the EU.

Main ingredients

Technical data

* These components are typically> 1% in Cassegrain essential oil. Terpinen–4-ol is the main component.

Monoterpene found in certain essential oils such as: Pine, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Nutmeg. Its effect is mainly antibacterial, anti fungal, anti inflammatory, anti parasitic, anti acne, anti tumoral and diuretic.

The composition of TTO changes with time, especially when exposed to air, but also when the oil is exposed to light and high temperatures.

These results indicate that there was no appreciable oxidation or degradation of the oil for at least 12 months under typical conditions of use. To reduce oxidation, the recommendation is to keep the TTO tightly sealed and stored away from light and heat.

The COSMOS certification

The COSMOS guideline is becoming the most widely used standard in the field of organic and natural cosmetics - 85% of certified companies have joined the founding members. Thus, all products bear a consistent labeling across all markets. The signature COSMOS ORGANIC or COSMOS NATURAL can be added to your existing identifications (association or certifying logo). Your customers receive clear information with labels showing percentages seamlessly.

COSMOS (COSMetic Organic Standard) is a private European standard developed by five founding members:
• BDIH (Germany)
• Cosmebio (France)
• ECOCERT Greenlife SAS (France)
• ICEA (Italy)
• Soil Association (Great Britain)

COSMOS defines common minimum requirements, harmonizes the certification rules for organic and natural cosmetics and lobbies institutions to defend the industry.

COSMOS adopts the principles of the ECOCERT reference (January 2003 version):
• Promote the use of ingredients from organic farming
• Use production and processing processes that respect the environment and human health
• Integrate and develop the concept of "green chemistry"
